Coconut Oil

Coconut oil, I can’t get over how versatile the stuff is! I wrote a piece about it on my other blog, the one I write for the Jane&Joe store and have decided to post the same piece here in english  because I’ve gotten all excited on the topic.

I remember typing in coconut oil on google and being amazed at what this stuff can do. I think the first article I read on coconut oil was about oil pulling, an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique which works as a detox. It sounds kind of weird but it’s supposedly really affective. You’re ment to take a teaspoon of coconut oil and swish it about in your mouth for 20mins first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. It  starts off solid but melts at 25°. Its important that you don’t swallow the stuff as it contains the bacteria and toxins you’re trying to get rid of, and when you spit it out don’t do it in the sink as it solidifies as it gets cold. After this rinse with salt water and brush your teeth.

I hear a lot of people have a hard time stomaching the stuff, but I think i’ll give it a try anyway. Oil pulling has many properties, if you keep it up for a few weeks it can give you whiter teeth, healthy pink gums, more energy, helps sleeping, even helps people with bad breath and there are many more ways in which it can help.

But oil pulling is only the beginning of the possibilities with coconut oil. You can use it as almost anything beauty-wise, a hair mask, make-upremover, serum, eye cream, shaving cream.. It supposedly makes a good substitute as a coffee cream too! It’s affordable and as for how effective it is? I’ll be trying out some of the above and keeping you up to date.
