Moving in together is a big step. But for us it just kind of happened. A few months ago my boyfriend gave me a key to his place which leaded to me staying over more and more and my belongings slowly started to migrate to his house. But it was high time that we found a place together and move away from the middle-of-nowhere village, Zuienkerke. We both agreed on moving to Bruges and the more I started thinking of this, the more I got excited to move to this beautiful town.
Bruges seemed like the most logical place for a few reasons. My job, the kids school and their mother are all in the city centre. Dominick had grown up in the town and adores it. I can’t blame him. It is truly a beautiful city, with it’s medieval buildings and with that comes tons of history. More than anything I couldn’t wait to leave Blankenberg, the town I had grown up in. It’s a pretty boring and featureless place to live. For me this would be an opportunity to meet new people and do new exciting thing and build up a new life with Dominick.
It didn’t take long for us to find the perfect place. There were only a few things we wanted in our future home. A garden or terrace, a garage, 3 to 4 bedrooms and in the city centre.
The house we found is only a 2 minute walk from my workplace and there’s a fruit and veggie market every week only a few houses down the road. The house has 4 bedrooms, a rooftop terrace and garage. When we first went to visit the house we decided to take the kids with us, they didn’t seem to excited about this (do we have to??) . But once we were there they loved it and every week we got the same question: when are we going to the new house?!
Over the next few months I will be taking the time to explore the town and finding all the best places to visit, eat and shop. I’m planing on writing about this along with a little bit of history about the town.
Have you been to Bruges? What were your favourite places to visit?
