Ootd- Painting the town red

DSCF4141Hi there! I suppose I had a pretty boring week last week. On Thursday we had gorgeous weather, so I spent most of that day laying in the sun until the kids finished school. Because I’m trying to prove I’m a ‘cool’ step mum, I took the kids to a nearby park they hadn’t been to before and had a picnic with them! On my birthday I was given a really nice picnic basket and ever since the kids have been dying to go for a picnic. We had some sandwiches and some veggies and the likes and baked in the sun. Sadly, the weather didn’t stay like this for very long. So on my next day off, I didn’t have much choice but to wear something a bit warmer than a frilly sun dress.

I went for a casual, clean cut look. Wearing a light red blouse I bought quite a long time ago but haven’t worn that often. I love the sleeves,  they’re light and feminine. The jeans, which are my favourite pants at the moment, were an impulse buy (and I’m so glad I did!). They look good with pretty much anything and I usually pair these with these leopard print slip ons. These have to be my cheapest pair of shoes and probably my favourite flats. They’re just so comfy and again, they go with almost anything! I’m dreading the day they will start to wear and I’ll have to chuck them and I wish I could go back in time and spend another £8 on a second pair.

The earrings, which you can barley see in these pics but never mind, I bought in a packaged with three other pairs. I purchased these at least three years ago and didn’t even like this particular pair at the time, but kept them anyway. And lo and behold, now they are one of my favourite pairs! I always say, never throw anything away, because you never know what will be fashionable in 5 years time. As for my sunglasses, again, a favourite. I really have to make myself wear a different pair once in a while. Just one look at my instagram account and you will see what I mean.

I finished this look with a tidy yet chic hair do. My hair is quite short at the moment so there’s not much I can do with it, which is a nightmare when you wake up with a bad hair day and no time to do anything about it. I know a lot of people won’t share this opinion, but I hate tiny ponytails. I think they just look ridiculous, can’t help it. I’m sure there are exceptions out there, people who look pretty damn cool with tiny ponytails, but I’m not one of them. So this forces me to get creative with it… or get up earlier I suppose.

Have a nice week!
